Greetings from the Center Director

サンプルメージ

The Okayama University of Science Equipment Center was established in 1985 as an analysis center for faculty and students to conduct research and education using large equipment, and in 2017 it became a division of the university's research and social cooperation organization. Masu. In addition to using large equipment, this center also supplies the cryogen (liquid nitrogen) necessary for experiments. We would like as many people as possible to use this center, and we are implementing the following initiatives.

The center has two main duties, one of which is the smooth shared management and operation of large equipment. The center has approximately 20 large machines, and each machine has a user group to manage and operate it. Additionally, in order to increase the number of users, we regularly hold center tours and user training sessions on how to use the equipment. Furthermore, some of the large equipment installed at this center is open to the public for use by people outside the university. We hope that this information will be useful for promoting collaboration with other universities and companies. The second task is to store cryogen (liquid nitrogen) and supply it to the campus. Cryogen is not only necessary for research and equipment maintenance, but also used in demonstration experiments in university lectures, so a stable supply is required. For this reason, we have a system in place that allows you to use our services at any time during the center's business hours. Additionally, once a year we hold a seminar on how to use cryogens safely.

In recent years, as research has become more sophisticated and highly accurate results are required, there has been an increase in requests for the introduction of large equipment that is not available at this center. Additionally, it has become necessary to replace large equipment that has been installed at this center for several years with the latest equipment. The introduction of large-scale equipment will require a large budget, but we would like to discuss this with the entire university through the Research and Social Cooperation Organization, and the center will provide strong support to ensure that research and education at our university can proceed smoothly. thinking about. Furthermore, by allowing companies and researchers from other universities to use the large equipment that is open to the public, we hope to contribute to the creation of new industries and regional revitalization.

Center concept

We will contribute to the promotion of research and education for Okayama University of Science faculty, staff, students, and outsiders through the use of cutting-edge research equipment.

· We will install state-of-the-art research equipment and carry out sufficient maintenance and inspections to maintain it in the best possible condition.
· We will allow not only faculty and staff members but also students to use the equipment and contribute to education through the voluntary use of research equipment and understanding of the principles.
・Students and faculty members will participate in some of the maintenance and repair work, deepen their understanding of the operating principles of research equipment, and create an environment where they can take on the challenge of improving and creating equipment.
· We will introduce cutting-edge research equipment and strive to understand cutting-edge scientific equipment for students, students, faculty members, and working people inside and outside the university.
・"Center report" will be issued every other year, and in addition to introducing the equipment, the usage status of the equipment, research results, etc. will be disclosed both inside and outside the university.
