Mass spectrometer
OutlineOutline
A high-resolution mass spectrometer is an analyzer that measures the mass number of organic compounds. The mass number of the sample can be directly obtained by separating the sample ionized by the ion source according to the mass ratio (m/e) of the electric charge of the ion using the magnetic field. From this value, basic physical property data of organic compounds such as molecular weight and elemental composition can be calculated. In addition, the partial structure of the molecule can be clarified from the mass numbers of the fragment ions observed simultaneously. Since the mass spectrometer can measure the mass number with an extremely small amount (p mol order) of sample, it is also used to identify minute amounts of environmental pollutants and in vivo metabolites. Since the ionization method such as EI, CI, and FAB method can be applied to this device, it can be used to measure the molecular weight of a wide range of organic compounds.PerformancePerformance
