The Okayama University of Science Research Instruments Center was established in 1985 as an analysis center for faculty members and students to conduct research and education using large equipment, and in 2017 it became a division of the University's Research and Social Cooperation Organization and continues to this day. In addition to using large equipment, this center also supplies the cryogen (liquid nitrogen) necessary for experiments. We hope that many people will use this center, and we are taking the following measures.

There are three main operations of this center, one of which is the smooth shared use management and operation of large equipment. There are about 20 large devices in the center, and there is a user group for each device to manage and operate. In addition, in order to increase the number of users, we regularly hold center tours and user training sessions on how to use the equipment. In addition, some of the equipment at this center is open to the public so that people outside the university can use it. We hope that you will use it to promote cooperation with other universities and companies. The second task is to store and supply cryogen (liquid nitrogen) to the campus. Not only is it necessary for research and equipment maintenance, but it is also used as a demonstration experiment in university lectures, so a stable supply is required. Therefore, we have a system that can be used at any time during the business hours of the center. In addition, we hold a seminar once a year to use the freezing bath safely. The third task is the acceptance (transfer / management) of reusable small measuring instruments (including PCs). By encouraging the reuse of equipment that is no longer needed due to changes in equipment and themes issued by retired faculty members, we hope that it will be useful for effective utilization of research expenses, launch of new themes, and setup of laboratories for new faculty members.

In recent years, there is an increasing demand for the introduction of large equipment that our center does not have. There are also large devices that need to be replaced even if they are installed in this center. Although a large budget is required for the introduction of large-scale equipment, we will consider through the Research and Social Cooperation Organization, and the center will strongly support the research and education of our university. Furthermore, we would like to contribute to the creation of new industries and the revitalization of the region by having companies and people from other universities use the equipment that is open to the public.
